Choosing a dog collar
When choosing a dog collar it's important to remember that you're not just on the hunt for something that looks good, you're also looking for a dog collar that suits its purpose. Considering things like your dog's activities, size and temperament will go a long way to making sure you buy exactly what you need.
Firstly, if your canine is the outdoors type and likes nothing better than swimming or jumping through puddles then it might be worth looking at a waterproof dog collar. Our favourite brand is Dublin Dog simply because they look great, are hardwearing and easy to clean.
For the more delicate of pooches, a designer leather collar is worth considering. Hamish McBeth have some wonderful designs and are made from fantastic quality leather. You could also look at Waifs and Strays who have slightly more 'classic' designs but, again, are great quality and sure to make your dog stand out in the crowd.
Finally, if your dog likes to pull on the lead then our half-check dog collars are most likely what you're looking for. Strong, durable, but with great designs, we've selected a range from Quido Petz that will help keep your dog under control and (with some training) stop them dragging you down the street or around the field.
Dog collars Size and Fit
To measure your dog's neck size it's best to use a measuring tape (or, failing that, a piece of string which you can measure afterwards). Simply wrap it loosely around your dog's neck and ensure that there's room to slide two fingers underneath the tape (this helps make sure that the dog collar is going to be comfortable).
All brands are different when it comes to sizing, so make sure to double check that you've picked the right size before checking out. Oh, and if you're not sure, feel free to drop us an email - we're always happy to help out.
